Meeting Bitcoin, and our mission

CEO message

Daisuke Kuse, Representative Director, Japan Bitcoin Industry Co., Ltd.

My first encounter with Bitcoin

I first encountered Bitcoin around 2016, when I was running a share house. One of the residents was interested in Bitcoin, and I naturally learned about it through everyday conversation. Because of that, I never developed any particular prejudice against it — I simply accepted it as one more new technology. At the time I was not deeply involved; my understanding went no further than "so there is a new kind of system out there."

Why I chose Bitcoin

I was then running a business in an entirely different field. That experience got me thinking about asset management and about the nature of money itself, and I tried many investment vehicles — stocks, real estate, and more. After much deliberation, the only thing that finally matched my values was Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the ultimate system of self-responsibility: you must think, verify, and manage everything yourself. And precisely because it is self-responsibility, sovereignty can belong to each individual — that drew me powerfully. Looking at the structural challenges facing Japan and the world, a system that establishes self-sovereignty is indispensable, and for me the answer could only be Bitcoin.

How I engage with Bitcoin

Bitcoin feels to me like a living thing that keeps evolving. Even when it seems unchanged on the surface, look away for a moment and new technologies and ideas have sprouted; I constantly sense its growth. Chasing that change, the learning and discovery never run out. Bitcoin is also a shared topic that connects people across countries and cultures. I have visited many countries, and again and again conversations arose naturally with people in completely different positions — through Bitcoin. Through those experiences I came to feel strongly that Bitcoin is the world's common language.

Why we founded Japan Bitcoin Industry

In Japan, precisely because Bitcoin spread early, there were many incidents and misunderstandings, and I feel the impression of it being "something shady" still lingers. Dispelling that misunderstanding and raising it properly as an industry — that was the great motive for founding the company. I had long been nurturing business ideas around Bitcoin, and to give them form on my own responsibility I established Japan Bitcoin Industry Co., Ltd. Taking the form of a company lets me work together with talented people who are convinced of Bitcoin's importance. What I could not achieve alone becomes possible through the company.

Our role and mission

The mission of Japan Bitcoin Industry is to change Bitcoin from "something suspicious" into "something people can engage with in confidence." While adoption came early in Japan, incidents and misunderstandings left a negative impression. Changing that situation and helping people correctly understand Bitcoin's essential value is, I believe, our greatest role. To that end, we want as many people as possible to learn about Bitcoin and engage with it positively.

To those who would make history with us

To live in an era where we can witness the historic turning point that is Bitcoin, and to raise an industry together with colleagues — I find enormous meaning in that. To work on Bitcoin is to become one of the people who shape the history to come. We have our Founding Prospectus, and realizing it is our final goal. We want to work side by side with people who share its spirit and want to contribute to Bitcoin.
